Brandt Kettwick Defense is a law firm dedicated to helping people through their legal struggles with compassion, integrity, professionalism, and respect. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile and doing the right thing in everything we do.

Primary Area of Practice

We are a firm practicing almost exclusively in the area of criminal defense. The ideal candidate will fit into our mission statement, enjoy a fast-paced environment, be passionate about criminal defense, and be a good fit with our team. While we are open to varying levels of experience and qualifications, we are mainly focused on finding the "right fit."

Training Provided

As a smaller firm (5 attorneys and 8 employees) we do not have a rigid training program. Our current law clerks assist with training new law clerks. We have a training manual, a checklist, and always have an "open door" policy where our entire office is here to help.

Pro Bono & Community Involvement

All of our attorneys are involved in various non-profit organizations both in and out of the legal community. We also regularly volunteer for various events including law days at various courthouses, expungement clinics, stand down for veterans, etc. Two of our attorneys also mentor students that are in law school.

Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

As a private law firm, we can often see how inequities lead to people getting stuck in our criminal justice system. All of our attorneys are committed to improving the justice system, and diversity is part of that equation. Diversity is woefully lacking in the legal community, and it is especially lacking in private criminal defense. We would like to play a part in improving that.

Summer Clerkship Description

Our law firm provides a variety of opportunities. Some primary tasks will include writing blogs, reviewing evidence/police reports and body camera videos and writing reports for attorney review, and a lot of problem solving. You could also have opportunities to communicate with clients, to watch attorneys in court, and to get a taste for criminal defense work. We strive to provide great mentorship to our law clerks. Our team works closely together to help our clients get through their struggles and our law clerks play an active role in that process.

Successful Candidate Description

Autonomous, has grit, compassionate, strong oral and written communication skills, team player, and is a great problem solver.
