Sumbal Mahmud receives 2025 President's Award

2024-2025 MSBA President Samuel Edmunds has recognized Sumbal Mahmud with the 2025 President's Award for service to the profession and association.

"Sumbal is the kind of leader you can always count on," Edmunds remarked. "I’ve served with her on the MSBA Board of Governors and watched her represent us with distinction for six years in the ABA House of Delegates. But what stands out most is her unwavering presence. When something matters—to the bar, to the profession, to the people we serve—Sumbal shows up."

In addition to Mahmud's work on the Board of Governors and representing the association in the ABA, she has chaired the Judiciary Committee and served on the Human Rights Committee, leading thoughtfully and with dedication to justice, inclusion, and community.
