Summary

Older adults are living longer and long-term health care costs are rising -- this means it is essential our clients’ can access their long-term care insurance benefits or alternatively plan for these costs. Unfortunately, there has simultaneously been an upsurge in consumer complaints related delays and denials of the part of LTC insurers, leaving many policyholders in a financial bind. This presentation will provide background on the variety of challenges policyholders are facing with long-term care insurance and discuss a proposed legislative amendment to Minnesota’s Bad Faith Ins. law, as one part of the solution. We’ll also explore alternative planning and practical advice for clients when facing the high cost of both insurance and care.
