This presentation will provide in-house counsel with an essential overview of intellectual property (IP) law, focusing on the key areas of trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets. Attendees will learn about the fundamental concepts that distinguish each type of IP, their legal protections, and the process for securing and enforcing rights. We will discuss common pitfalls and strategies for advising your business on IP-related matters.

Arbitration Basics 

This CLE will introduce in-house counsel to the fundamentals of arbitration, highlighting its role as a key alternative dispute resolution (ADR) method. Participants will explore the arbitration process including selecting arbitrators and understanding the procedural rules. We will also discuss the enforceability of arbitration awards, common challenges, and the advantages and disadvantages compared to litigation.

Bankruptcy Basics 

What do you do when your company’s client or vendor files for bankruptcy?  Join us as Fredrikson & Byron bankruptcy shareholder, Steve Kinsella, provides a refresher on bankruptcy law basics including the differences between the different types of bankruptcies and the bankruptcy process.  We will also discuss the rights your company has against a bankrupt client or vendor.  Finally, Steve will provide practical steps that in-house counsel should take after receiving notice from a client that they have filed for bankruptcy.
