Summary

Every year in the United States, over 9 billion farmed animals are killed for food or fiber. The legal system generally considers these animals as objects unworthy of any meaningful protection at either the state or federal level.  However, animal advocates have developed innovative ways to promote the interests of these animals through the law.  This panel explores several strategies used by animal protection organizations in the United States to stand up for some of the most overlooked animals in our society today.
