Jeffrey A. Hassan, Esq. is the author of The Black Lawyer in Minnesota: 1973 to 2003. In this CLE, he will give an overview of the groundbreaking achievements of Minnesota's Black legal community over the last 50 years, including the founding of the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers, landmark appointments to the bench, the Derek Chauvin prosecution, and other stories of resilience and principle-driven leadership. This CLE is a collaboration between the Hennepin County Law Library and the HCBA.

This CLE is FREE for all attendees.

Minnesota Affinity and Affiliate Bar Judicial Bootcamp

Monday, June 16, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Considering a future on the bench? The Minnesota State Bar Association is partnering with nine affiliate and affinity bar organizations to provide attorneys with the tools, insights, and support they'll need to be competitive candidates for judicial appointment or election. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the selection process, receive small-group mentoring from sitting judges, and engage in workshops to prepare their applications.
