On May 1, Minnesota attorneys will gather on Law Day to reaffirm their oath to support the Constitution and uphold the principles of justice, due process, and the rule of law. The MSBA, HCBA, and RCBA invite you to join us in retaking your attorney’s oath—publicly reaffirming the importance of judicial independence, the rule of law, and the vital role attorneys play in protecting our democracy.
The HCBA and RCBA Diversity Committees have three engaging CLEs planned for our May Race + Equity CLE series. These panel discussions will highlight the impact of ICE activity on the Twin Cities legal community, and particularly on diverse legal professionals.
In movies and TV shows, attorneys are often working high-profile cases, wrangling clients, or making bold speeches in the courtroom or boardroom. The day-to-day reality of practicing law—the paperwork, research, and routine client meetings—don't always make it on screen.
Can you think of examples in pop culture where they got it right? Or, on the flip side, depictions of lawyering that miss the mark? Let us know the books, movies, and shows that resonated—or didn't—and how.

Get an inside look at post-conviction review through the lens of Hennepin County’s Conviction Integrity Unit—a rare, county-level initiative that functions much like an internal innocence project. Since its launch in 2024, the Unit has reviewed applications from incarcerated individuals serving lengthy sentences for serious offenses, with the seriousness of the conviction playing no role in whether a claim is investigated.
This CLE is FREE for HCBA members.

Como Zoo and Conservatory
Join the HCBA New Lawyers Section for a guided tour of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. Enjoy a special morning experience at the Como Zoo before it opens to the public. During the tour, you’ll learn about the zoo’s 125-year history and hear behind-the-scenes stories from a zookeeper. The guided tour will last approximately two hours. While the zoo tour is capped at 22 registrants, anyone is welcome to join the family-friendly self-guided tour at 10:30 AM.

The latest cohort of attorneys emerges with an arsenal of skills and insights to serve nonprofit boards and committees.
