Greater Minnesota (Bar Districts 1, 8, 18, 19 and 21) MSBA Board of Governors Opening

The MSBA is now accepting applications for a vacancy on the MSBA Board of Governors for a member from the 1st, 8th, 18th, 19th, or 21st District Bar Associations, which are made up of the counties immediately outside Hennepin and Ramsey County. A map of the districts can be found here. This position will be selected by the MSBA Assembly members from those five district bars. 

Interested, qualified members are encouraged to apply, or to encourage other eligible and interested Association members to apply. Applications are due Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Additional Openings

At an upcoming meeting, the Elections & Appointments Committee will interview for the following positions:

• MSBA Board of Governors (4 openings) - The terms of Landon Ascheman, Hennepin County; Hon. Christa Moseng, Ramsey County; Garrett Prehatney, Sherburne County; and Matthew Ralph, Hennepin County, expire June 30, 2026.
  Each incumbent is eligible for reappointment. Two of these are at-large positions. The other two positions are reserved for members of affinity bar associations, or individuals who have relevant experience or demonstrate particular expertise with respect to one or more of the affinity bar associations.

• MSBA Delegates to the ABA (4 openings) - The terms of Leanne Fuith, Ramsey County; Kristi Paulson, Dakota County; and Robin Wolpert, Hennepin County, expire on June 30, 2026. Additionally, applications are being accepted for a fourth seat that is currently vacant and expires on June 30, 2026.

• Client Security Board (1 opening) – The term of Hayley Howe, Washington County, expires on June 30, 2026. Ms. Howe has served one term and is eligible for reappointment.

• MN State Board of Continuing Legal Education (1 opening) – The term of Kevin Sieben, Dakota County, expires June 30, 2026. Mr. Sieben has served two full terms and is ineligible for reappointment.

• Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board (2 openings) – The board has two openings for MSBA members. The selected appointees will fill the remainder of the existing terms, which will expire on January 31, 2027, and January 31, 2028.

The Elections/Appointments Committee reviews Qualifications & Interest Forms submitted by members interested in serving on outside boards and related positions.  Through that review and short interviews, the Committee develops recommendations for the Assembly to fill positions on a variety of boards.
