I’ve struggled with some form of mood disorder since high school, leading more than one therapist to suggest meditation. I ignored them, of course. Why would I want to look at my mind? This event is designed as a “thank you” to the hundreds of volunteers who assist us in carrying out various responsibilities within the lawyer discipline system. Every year I am impressed by and eternally grateful to the individuals, lawyers and nonlawyers alike, who dedicate time and talent to the discipline system. Holiday stress arises from intertwined triggers: financial, relationship, physical, time pressures, environmental, emotional, and others. Awareness of the triggers increases your ability to understand and cope with them.

In 2023, the Minnesota Legislature narrowed the scope of liability for aiding and abetting first- and second-degree murder. This narrowing also led to a new process by which an already convicted individual could request resentencing under the new statutory scheme.
The MSBA Senior Lawyers and Judges Section was formed to meet the needs of retired lawyers and judges. Our members knew they had much to offer the profession via their collective wisdom and that of hundreds of attorneys across the state.
As a practicing attorney, Zebot understands firsthand the challenges people face when seeking legal help. He recognizes the systemic barriers that can prevent individuals from accessing the legal services they need, such as socioeconomic disparities, racial discrimination, and the rising cost of legal representation. Through his work with the Fund for Legal Aid, he is committed to addressing these challenges and ensuring that everyone has equal access to justice.
