High School Mock Trial

Judges

Every year, 700+ attorneys and judges are needed to act as competition judges in the MSBA High School Mock Trial Program.

Volunteer to Judge          Online Scoresheet

When and where are judging opportunities available? The competition begins with the first round of trials the first full week of January and concludes after five rounds of regional play with the State Tournament held in March. Competitions may be held virtually through Zoom or in-person at the local courthouse.  You'll be able to participate as a scoring or presiding judge from the comfort of your home or office. Competitions held in the Metro area are during evening hours and greater Minnesota trials are held during regular business hours.

What is the time commitment?  Volunteers should allow about three hours per round of competition. Some volunteers judge one competition round and some judge multiple rounds depending on their availability and interest. In preparation for judging, volunteers are expected to read through the case materials and be prepared to either preside or score at the competition round.
